Welcome to The Great Scavenger Hunt 2010! This is that delicious moment you first get your grubby little mitts on The Great Scavenger Hunt list for 2010. But please be gentle, she is but a delicate flower we have devoted our lives to for a whole year. In the next 24 hours, you and the list will be on very intimate terms indeed, so take a moment to think about how much you appreciate her. Hug her, sniff her a little. And now that I've given you a new fetish, I think it's time to get started. By now you have roughly half an hour to read the list and get a working game plan for the next 24 hours. Game plans, while not necessary are highly recommended. Unless you are an anarchist and I've already offended you, in which case, I apologize for oppressing you and recommend you do whatever the fuck you want from this point on. But for the rest of you, it's just a good amount of time to get a preliminary idea of where you want to go and which items you want to do first. Or maybe you just want to spend a little alone time with the list now that you're all hot for it. Creep.... But whenever you're ready, the next order of business on the agenda is formatting your camera. When you upload your photos, the site has a 1 MB limit for all photos. Make sure you've set your camera to a setting that takes photos close to but not exceeding 1 MB. It's no fun resizing all your photos so you can upload them successfully. An optimal setting would be 1600x1200 pixels. But you know your camera better than I do. Also, make sure the time and date is set correctly on your camera. If you're in a different time zone, we'll take that into consideration. But this is how we tell whether you were taking pictures within the time limit. So set your time and date NOW!! I know how well YOU know the list by now (coughPERVcough) so you probably already know that it's divided into 5 sections: Entire Team, Person Place or Thing, Someone, Stranger, and Teammate. At the top of each page it reads “Take a picture of...”. That is how each item should be read. Ex. Take a picture of...Entire Team doing something. It's easier to have that in the header versus typing it out for each item. During the course of the hunt, we do ask that you follow a few rules and requirements. These rules are available on the website and have been there for quite a few months now. So there's no excuse for not following them (you too, anarchists. Or you can't win. That simple...). 1.All Teammates (including photographer) must be at least 18 years old or older. 2.There are only 4 members to a team. NOTE: You can have a 5th person, but only as a photographer. 3.All Teammates must live within the United States. 4.Final judges' decisions are just that. Final! 5.You cannot photoshop images. All images must be original. 6.No photographing an image off of a website unless stated otherwise. 7.Each picture can only count for one item. Meaning that if you take a picture that completes two items, it can only count for one of those items. 8.All photos must be taken within the 24 hour time limit. Any photos taken before or after official start and end of hunt will not be counted! 9.If we can't figure out what your photo is supposed to be, we won't count that either. 10.Entire Team means that every teammate is present in the photo. If you have a photographer, they are exempt from being in the photo. 11.Someone means anyone! Teammate, your photographer, a stranger, your mom, a construction worker, that creepy guy that asks for money who you know is going to use it to buy booze, anyone! 12.Stranger means someone that you do not know previous to the hunt. NOTE: Once you use a stranger in a photo, they cannot be used as a stranger again. You know them! They are a part of your family now. 13.Person, Place, or Thing consists of pictures without Teammates (unless stated otherwise) 14.Teammate means just that. Only 1 Teammate is required to be present in the photo. 15.Male/Female Teammate means that a teammate of the specified gender must be used in the photo. NOTE: If your team does not have a required gender present, then the photo becomes an Entire Team photo. 16.Have Fun! That's about it.
