F.A.Q.

We have a lot of people asking us the same question over and over again. Which is fine. We've never had an F.A.Q. section before. So now, before you go firing off an e-mail asking us some question about the hunt, please check out the questions below and see if your answer is down there. If not, then fire away!

1. When is the next hunt?
2. When can we sign-up?
3. Can anyone enter to play?
4. Is it going to be 24 hours again?
5. How many people can be on a team?
6. Is it going to cost to play this time?
7. What are the prizes for next year's hunt?
8. Where are the Admins located?
9. How do you all come up with the list?

1. When is the next hunt?
April 19-20, 2008. As always, we start at noon on Saturday and end at noon on Sunday CST.
The list will be available 11:30am that Saturday.

2. When can we sign-up?
Sign-up has been moved to March 8, 2008. We need some more time to finish the sign-up process. We're doing it a bit different this year and we didn't quite judge our time right. But believe me, if you've signed up for any of the last two, you'll notice the difference. And it's good! Take the extra time to go over your teammates and prep them for mayhem. Hehe. That rhymed.

3. Can anyone enter to play?
Yes and No. Yes, anyone can play. No, if you're under 18 years of age or from another country other than America or Canada.

We have to do this whole 18 thing because some of the items on the list require you to get naked and/or smoke. And if we get pics back of underage kids all naked and shit, I don't want to go to prison for possession of kiddie porn. You might want to. But you can start your own damn hunt then!

Plus, we're kind of growing bigger each year. And we've begun to realize that having teams from other countries presents unforseen problems. International laws, Ability to do certain items (what's legal in the States may not be legal else where), etc. I'd go into more detail but these problems are "unforseen."

So until we grow enough to gather an international legal team to aid us in our endeavor, we're going to have to stick to America and Canada.
Other than that, anyone can play!

4. Is it going to be 24 hours again?
Yes. Just like last time it'll start at noon one day and end at noon the next day.

5. How many people can be on a team?
Four. Not six or seven, but 4. If you want to do it with 3, 2, or 1. Then fine, but that's going to make "Entire Team" shots mighty difficult. They do require 4 teammates in a picture.

What we are going to introduce for next year's hunt is a 5th member rule. This 5th member is going to be only your camera operator. They cannot appear in any pictures (except the "Someone" category), but they can aid you in setting up shots, thinking up ideas, and most importantly, taking the photos for your team.
Many teams have done this in the past, but we're now making it a recommendation. Not a requirement, but a it-would-be-a-good-idea clause.

6. Is it going to cost to play next time?
No.
Last year we charged and found that that didn't go over very well. I mean, who wants to pay for a good time.
But then again, you never hear of free prostitutes. C'est la vie!

Even though we don't charge, we do accept donations...and sexual favors.
There will be more information about donating later.

7. What are the prizes for next year's hunt?
We also don't know that yet.

We probably won't know until very close to the sign-up date.
I do know, however, that if all goes well it's going to be very very cool!

8. Where are the Admins located?
Primarily, we're located in the Macomb, IL region. Home of Western Illinois University.

However, since most of us have graduated, we all reside in different parts of the US now.
But each year, we migrate back to Macomb, IL, like turtles to the beach, to do the hunt again.

9. How do you all come up with the list?
We have a couple different ways that help aid us in coming up with 500 slightly-unique items each year.
I say "slightly-unique" because we do repeat some stuff. If it's that good/funny, then it deserves to have a second chance.

We like to get together for coffee and/or doughnuts and just sit, talk about the list, and come up with funny ideas. We feed off each other's ideas.
I personally like to drive around to places I don't visit often and take in the surroundings. You'd be surprised how many ideas you can come up with from an empty field.
We read other scavenger hunt lists that we find on the internet and we steal from them.
We watch a lot of television.

One of the most interesting exercises we did for '06's hunt was we got a box with a hole in it, put a bunch of random stuff in it, and then took turns taking items out of the box and shouting out the first idea that came to you. Molly grabbed a Rubix Cube and said "Take a picture of... a Rubix Cube made of milk crates." Brilliant!

Now, if you still have unanswered questions, then feel free to drop us a line. You can get any one of our e-mail addresses at the Contacts page. However, if you ask us a single one of the questions that is already up on this page, then we're...going to....kill small woodlan creatures!! YEAH!! So, don't even think about doing it, because we will. Holly is just itching to kill Bambi's cousin.
